NEWS/STATUS of CPU Director Support for Mac OS X 10.4.10/10.4.11 & 10.5
NOTE: CPU Director is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and should not be installed.PowerLogix G4 7447, 7455, and 7457 single and dual processor upgrades do not require CPU Director for proper operation or performance. You do not need to install CPU Director with any version of Mac OS X 10.5.
Mac OS X 10.4.10/10.4.11 Notes:
Due to numerous roadblocks in the revised Darwin source code introduced in Mac OS X 10.4.10 and 10.4.11, further revisions of CPU Director are not possible. CPU Director 2.3b6 is the final release of this product.
Please remember, PowerLogix G4 7447, 7455, and 7457 single and dual processor upgrades do not require CPU Director for proper operation or performance. Upgrading to 10.4.9 will not cause loss of settings or performance, but will disable CPU Director and it's temperature view pane as well as Dynamic Frequency Switching feature (DFS is a 7447 only option).
Owners of certain PowerLogix G3/800MHz to G3/1.1GHz PCI, Pismo, and ZIF upgrades may require CPU Director at startup to enable the higher processor speed of the PowerLogix G3 750FX or 750GX based upgrade. We recommend not updating your system past Mac OS X 10.4.9 due to these requirements.
Ending development on CPU Director was not an easy decision, and countless hours were spent attempting to work around the changes in Mac OS X 10.4.10 and later. Unfortunately, it just cannot be done.
Thank you for your support and understanding in this situation.
